David Friedman’s laurels wouldn’t leave me alone, and I wanted to add a bit of pathos to the book. So, spending an evening, I finally provided the book with an epigraph. Now an audiobook can be recorded, if there are any volunteers.
People strive to live in peace with themselves.
People strive to live in peace with others.
What then punishes us with war?
The spirits of war — what lurks behind them?
To build cunning, secret plans,
To amass strength, to stock up on weapons,
To practice the art of deception…
Is this necessary? Who needs this?
Is the master an offspring of hell?
Have you not grown accustomed to slavery over the years?
To rise and strike? Or perhaps, there is no need?
Do it. Thus demand the Spirits of freedom.
