Париж горит

I have already given a brief overview of some Telegram channels here, explaining why I subscribed to them and why I recommend them to others. Today will probably be the most exotic recommendation.

Paris Burns is a channel run by hardcore classical anarchists. There is little reasoning there; it is more of a report on practical activities. Direct reports on the life of the yellow vest movement in France, news about the case of Azat Miftakhov and other anarchists persecuted by the state, reports from crypto-forums and squats, practical techniques for online anonymization, and much, much more. I don’t encrypt my activities with the same thoroughness as these guys, but if the state starts picking on not only left-wing anarchists but also ancaps, I will have someone to learn from.

If you have a lot of strength and energy, I separately recommend browsing the channel for the “stigmergy” tag and considering whether to participate in a fun direct-action quest. If the idea seems attractive, contact the special bot, where they will explain the details, and then you can finally decide for yourself whether you are ready to join in.

2018, results

Friends, thank you so much for being with me in the past year! Today marks exactly seven months since the project’s birth. It is already time to summarize some results.

The project has nearly five hundred subscribers on Telegram, nearly fifty on Twitter, and nearly a hundred on Facebook. This is modest. Next year, I want to pay more attention to viral content, whose task is simple — to be reposted and attract people to the main resource, where a more thoughtful acquaintance will take place.

The format of regular answers to readers’ questions, interspersed with separate notes, has proven itself excellent. I judge this primarily by the fact that new questions come in constantly, and the queue has stretched a month ahead. Your donations also help me understand that I am doing the right thing.

A community has gradually formed around the project, which not only inspires me to continue my activities but also greatly helps in the work. For instance, I have a permanent co-author, several consultants on specialized issues, regular authors of interesting questions — and simply a large number of well-wishers.

I will be glad to read your congratulations, wishes, and cooperation proposals in the comments or in the chat. I will be even happier to see reposts of any project materials on some active platforms.

I received a postcard of extreme kawaiiness for the New Year

Хочу расширения аудитории. Какие варианты действий предложите?
  • Add your answer

Меня очень радует монетизация канала, а вот охват аудитории непростительно скромный, и с этим наверняка можно что-то сделать, интересует ваше мнение. Набросала варианты, также можно предлагать свои.

You’ve started saying quite often that you’re repeating yourself. In that case, I wonder: are there any topics left for which you don’t know the answer? Or are this site and channel an attempt to find one?

анонимный вопрос

I liked this question, so I’m answering it out of turn; my apologies to everyone who had to be pushed back.

Of course, there is an entire class of questions to which I do not know the answer: predicting the future.

As long as the question is “how will such-and-such type of human relationship look under ancap,” it can be answered. When the question looks like something such as “when will ancap happen in Russia?”, I fall into a stupor, because theory does not answer this; one can only guess. Whoever predicts the future best is the most clever entrepreneur, for he derives profit specifically from the uncertainty of the future.

There is also a huge number of questions to which I do not know the answer, but can find it if the question is asked. For example, “how do you comment on economist A’s statement regarding politician B’s program?” I would need to find out who A is, what he said about B, what that program is, and only then would it become clear how I can comment on it.

The same applies to questions concerning the intricacies of theory, for example, “economist C has developed a model that refutes the law of diminishing marginal utility—checkmate, Austrians!” I would have to find out what the model is and for which specific cases it works before I can formulate how the Austrians escape the check. Or I might not be able to do it; after all, this is a science, not theology, and it cannot give guarantees of a correct explanation for absolutely everything. For instance, spears are still being broken over whether Bitcoin satisfies Mises’ regression theorem or not.

And finally: no, this site and channel are not an attempt to find unanswered questions. It is an attempt to interest the general public in the topic of libertarianism and to make them realize how simple all this is, in general.

— Bitcoin has no commodity value, defend yourself, sir!
— It is in the blockchain, sir!

Libertarian Podcasts

I want to recommend a channel that will be useful to anyone interested only in the audio tracks of various near-libertarian videos available on the internet. It’s very convenient: you’re walking down the street, phone in your pocket, listening to some fresh Shulman in your headphones who appeared on YouTube just a couple of hours ago, and she’s already been ported as audio to Telegram.

I promised you that there would be no promotional posts here. So, to clarify: we are agreeing with the owner of the channel that his audio library will also migrate to my website. The Telegram channels will remain separate. I hope that over time, I will be able to build a small, cozy Ancapistan around myself)

Start your acquaintance with the channel with a couple of programs about lustration. You love lustrations, don’t you?

Memo for Arguing with Schoolchildren

In yesterday’s post, I mentioned a cheat sheet for arguing with schoolchildren, and readers were interested in what kind of cheat sheet it was.

The cheat sheet was developed in the “Austrian School of Economics” community and consists of just five topics. In fact, such things highlight exactly how unique our project is. Any FAQ is a product of collecting, averaging, and generalizing many questions, after which a polished text covering the topic is prepared. In our case, every day we end up with a text answering a specific, rather than a generalized, question. And if any answer seems superficial or inaccurate to one of the readers, they can always send their clarifications and additions.

A post that lifts the veil and finally confuses everything

I want to introduce you to a true LPR-chan, known to many as @cannibalica

LPR-chan

Now, please send all nudes and questions about the libertarian party to her.

As for me, I will be happy to continue answering your questions on ancap, economic theory, libertarian law, ethics, and similar matters.

Ancap-chan

Thank you for staying on the channel! Love you all!

Please provide the Russian article title you would like me to translate.

The second hundred subscribers came along unexpectedly quickly; all it took was one repost in the St. Petersburg LPR channel. LPR started in St. Petersburg, and this branch is still one of the most original; thank you, guys, and good luck with your development!

I celebrated the anniversary by finishing the tags and images in old posts up until the bot broke on July 1st—nothing further back in history will be edited.

As your likes show, the most popular posts are those about tyans and Misha Svetov, but at the same time, tyans gather fewer dislikes. Tyans rule!

St. Petersburg rules!

Got anything?

Guys, I’m very glad that you read and like my posts, but I want to remind you: the only thing that allows me to regularly delight you with new texts is that you ask questions. I don’t make them up myself.

Ask about things that interest you. Ask about things that you think will be interesting to others. Ask just for fun—sometimes strange questions can lead to damn successful answers.

Love you all!
