What books would you recommend reading?

Anonymous question

Wow, you mean actual books? So video blogs, like SVTV , aren’t good enough? Telegram channels, like Pozharsky’s, aren’t good enough? Text columns, like Vladimir Zolotoryov’s, are also not what you’re looking for? Well, then you are a rare guest… And what kind of books? Fiction, journalism, popular science, treatises?

Well, let’s start with the heavy stuff. The most fundamental treatise, without a notion of which an educated person should simply be ashamed to call themselves such, is Mises’ “Human Action.” Long, detailed, clear, with a somewhat ponderous German style—it structures the brain perfectly. It’s also the best remedy for insomnia; take half a chapter before bed. I’ll add Rothbard’s “The Ethics of Liberty” to this—also long, also a bit dry, but interesting because it presents a slightly different approach to libertarianism than Mises. It’s like Plato and Aristotle: seemingly conflicting methodologies, but together they create an excellent stereo pair.
Want the same thing, but easier and more concise? Read Usanov’s “Science of Wealth,” a good, solid economic pop-science book with pictures.

In the fiction genre, the choice is not particularly large; the subject is just too specific. Usually, the heroes of fiction books are personalities, but we want something about society. It would be strange not to recommend such a famous writer of women’s novels as Ayn Rand. Feel free to read everything she wrote: the early works are more concise, the later ones more fundamental. Very potent stuff, but it must be followed up with economic treatises.

Also very good is Alexander Rozov’s Meganesian cycle. It’s a huge volume of text, but the necessary impression is formed after two or three books. It goes down well with tech-savvy boys. Also, don’t forget to follow up with treatises; overall, while a libertarian author, he has been noted for an uncritical perception of Marxism.

And from the classics—read the grandmaster of American sci-fi Robert Heinlein, “The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress.” A bit naive regarding artificial intelligence, but very interesting regarding the structure of society.

The product of a person’s labor is their property. But if it was produced by intellectual labor and the property is intellectual? Why does it not belong to them? After all, they spent strength and time to make it.

Pisya Kamushkin

Anyone can do whatever they want with their own property, but they cannot do whatever they want with someone else’s. I heard a little song from you, “putinhuylolalalalalalalala,” the tune got stuck in my head, and now I sing it too. If you start harassing me to make me stop singing it, or demand that I pay you royalties for singing, I will laugh at you, you senile fool, and walk away, humming the tune. Humming with my own mouth, that is, managing my own property, not yours.

But at the same time, one can imagine many scenarios in which I would still pay you money. You could sell me a ticket to a concert where you sing the song. You could sell me a T-shirt with a dickhead on it. You could suggest that we chip in to write a new song, for example, “hillarytoprisonlolalalalalalalala,” and I might like that idea…

As long as you invent ways for me to voluntarily part with my money to somehow partake in your intellectual property, you are a respected intellectual property owner. As soon as you start looking for ways to forcibly take money from me under the pretext that you thought of something and spent resources on it, you turn from a respected owner into a dangerous asshole.

What will you do with the sick and the disabled? Are you really going to leave them to die under your libertarian fence?

Anonymous question

I don’t spend money on high fences. I don’t spend money on doing nasty things to my neighbors. I don’t spend money on spying on my boyfriend. I don’t spend money on making him pointlessly move furniture around the house just to keep everyone busy. Therefore, I have enough for my own health and to help my loved ones. That’s another thing—not every random person I meet will be close to me. At the very least, they shouldn’t be an asshole. If you seriously count on someone’s help, you need to be nice until you receive the help, and know how to express gratitude after receiving it. That is how a one-time act of charity has a chance to become systematic.

As for the assholes, they are unlikely to be in a rush to die specifically under my fence—after all, there are still plenty of places in the world where assholes are fed by taking resources away from honest people.

And what about the PENSIONS??

Anonymous question

Pensions were invented so that people would get used to the idea: thinking about how to survive in old age is none of their business; the master will take care of it—taking it away today, to feed them in thirty years. And if the master was bad and didn’t take care of it—well, it happens, your money is gone.

I don’t have a master; my boyfriend and I decide for ourselves what is more profitable to invest in for the long term. And you should decide for yourselves; it’s more reliable. Some invest in children, some in friends, some in real estate, some in stocks, some in crypto, some intend to work until death because their favorite job allows them to, and some intend to live vibrantly and die young, and that is their sacred right.

Babchenko is alive

Arkady Babchenko survived, the perpetrator has been detained and is cooperating with the investigation, and in general, life has suddenly taken a turn completely in the spirit of spy novels.

Is it feasible to pull off such special operations in a minarchist state or even under ancap? Theoretically – yes. You receive threats, the insurance company finds out about them, decides that conducting preventive work will not be too burdensome for the wallet and very useful for the reputation – and then comes an operational game for the sake of a loud promotional campaign: get insured with us, and it will give you a chance of salvation even from a contract killing. Practically, of course, for this you need to be a sufficiently famous and wealthy person, well, that’s how the market works, to provide both mass and premium services.

In any case, it turned out to be a good day. I don’t know about you, but I’m going to have a couple of cocktails.

Tell me about your boyfriend

Anonymous question

My boyfriend is obsessed with weapons and crypto, advocates for legalization, is ready to discuss economics even in bed, and answers any question about the future with “the market will decide.” We are still just getting to know each other, but I hope we’ll sign a contract soon. I hope we last a long time and that he doesn’t lustration me.

Apple-chan

Yabloko-chan is choosing what to wear to the Moscow mayoral elections. It’s like an expensive and posh club with face control. Last time, she wore Mitrokhin—she was let into the club, but the success was quite questionable. Parnas-chan, who isn’t exactly a beauty herself, wore Navalny back then and outshone everyone except the hostess of the evening. If Yabloko-chan wears Mitrokhin again now, she will most likely be let into the club again, but it will look rather dreary.

I simply can’t afford such parties yet, but as they say, it’s better to be the first in the village than the second in Rome. For now, I’ll take Svetov to Nizhny and energize the regional branch there.

Arkady Babchenko Killed

And so, no sooner had I posted the answer about the extermination of niggers than news arrived that Arkady Babchenko had been killed in Kyiv.
Arkady was a wonderful example of how a person possessing a sense of self-respect almost inevitably turns into a proper ancap, no matter how much of a vatnik or leftie they tried to raise him to be. Babchenko lived by the market, hated the state, and did a lot to discredit the war.

When they tell you that without the state people would kill each other, remind them that the most cynical murders are nonetheless committed by order of the state, and such murders go unpunished much more often.

Arkady Babchenko

And will we be exterminating niggers in the beautiful Russia of the future?

Anonymous question

I have a female acquaintance who constantly changes her nickname, and just recently she started calling herself Russia of the Future. RB-chan and I often argue about this. She believes that a visa regime should be introduced for niggers, churkas, and other various inferior peoples, and a government official should be entrusted to decide which nigger to let in and which not to. But I, of course, object, saying that I will somehow decide for myself whom to let onto my land, without an official. And if someone shows up uninvited, they will indeed risk being exterminated. But if they are willing to sell me what I need, or buy what I want to sell, and are polite and courteous in doing so, then they will, of course, be a welcome guest, and I will then somehow ensure their protection from everyone who for some reason wants to exterminate them.
